Merry Christmas to ME!!!

My mother-in-law came over today with a Christmas gift for me an she INSISTED that I open it now.

Who am I to argue?



A KITCHEN AIDE MIXER!! I have always wanted one, but the price kept me away.

Because I am off this week and have had big plans to bake...

She bought me this for Christmas!! HOORAY!

In the picture, I have already started my first batch of cookies... Chocolate Peppermint Cookies. HOORAY!!

He is back. We started this tradition when we moved into our house 4 years ago. The little kids LOVE waking up in the morning wondering where he is, the big kids like it to, as he has 'friended' them on Facebook!! (always watching!!)

Baking...

In an effort to heat my house, I turned on my oven to bake something Christmas-y.

Candy-Cane Cocoa Cookies



Step 1- get the yummy candy cane kisses unwrapped... 5 year olds are really good at this. Zacks motto, "open one, eat one, open one, eat one!"



Step 2- make the dough... Found at allrecipes.com



Step 3- cool, dust with snow (powder sugar) try to keep kids out till after dinner.

There you have it. Baking 101. Easy way to heat the house. Well, kitchen.
